Still working on the JACK TEMPCHIN Live At Tales From The Tavern DVD/CD. Quite a few technical delays have pushed the release date far forward into 2012. Part Three-A Story Still In Progress

Our story continues to grow and evolve. Only a month ago, I posted our story of love and redemption. While this is far from the final installment of what I hope is a continuing love and relationship, it will be the last for now, because my one true love and I have now restarted our life together as a couple. She has come with me to my Kentucky home, and has begun living with me. We shall marry again soon, and both of us believe Peaceful Easy Feeling played a major role in our reunion. My cynical side says fairy tales don’t exist, but I’m living proof they can and do come true. -Al

I was a kid living in Michigan in the seventies. My grandparents were from Alabama but lived in Michigan. Their music was more Hank Williams, George Jones, and such. But I can still hear my grandmother singing Peaceful Easy Feeling… She loved that song and I still love it today. Saturday nights on the front porch with the neighbors over for a sing-along always included Peaceful Easy Feeling. The song title fits very well to it’s effect on people because it seems to give one in a peaceful easy feeling. Songs like that last forever and I sure wish we had more of them today. I am a songwriter too and have been very inspired by the great ones just like this. ~Eric A.

Always evokes in me…That peaceful, easy feeling ! America’s Greatest all time band since….Glen Miller ! The signature band of the ’70s, who after backing Linda Ronstadt in the studio, took on a life of their own. The core group carries on, and every time they replace a member of the group, the core group expands and they become more current, topical, and grow in popularity. Their fans span the ages of 70 on down, getting younger every year as new fans discover the older classics which are new to them. The Eagles feel like a comfortable leather coat, more comfortable as it ages. and they always …..fit like a glove ! -Jim D.

Just about a week ago, on a trip to Arizona, me and my girlfriend went to Sedona surroundings to see the sights and enjoy this one day trip. Have to say, it was the most wonderful time of my life I ever recorded. It was a Perfect Day by all means. But crossing through the desert, listening and singing this song, it becomes like the cherry on top—since the lyrics seems to be talking about us and our love. We love that song! Our original plan was to import Texas blues boogie into SoCal. I mean, how could a Freddie King and ZZ Top cover band fail, right? Irony of ironies that after having fled Texas for SoCal in the early ‘70’s I’d find souped-up Byrds ruling the roost. First couple of local jam parties I attended had everyone playing countryfied guitar and crooning “Peaceful” and “Easy”. WTH?? Then I worm my way into a concert at La Paloma Theater and some stringbean tumbles (literally) onto the stage and claims to be the author of the Eagles hit song. Nooo way, duuude, you’ve been bonging it too long. Went home afterward, dug out the album cover, and, lo and behold, it was true! The first of many confounding contradictions of SoCal beachbum life lessons. -Doc W.

Updating A Story Still In Progress

I submitted my story last week, and since then I have spent three days with the love I lost 29 years ago. It was three days of wonderful catching up, laughter and yes… love. While we are temporarily apart now, things are in the works for us to be together permanently. I have never been more happy or content in my life, or felt so loved. In our house, Peaceful Easy Feeling will have a place of honor and love always. Thanks again Jack for the song. -Al

The song says it all. Just hearing an Eagles song gives me a Peacefull Easy Feeling. It’s the calming nature of the band that I love so much. When I’m having a bad day, I turn to an Eagles tape and presto! I come out of the bad mood and move on. I Thank You and the Eagles for getting threw many bad days!! I think the first time I ever heard this song was summer of 76. I was 17 yrs old and was out with my first true love. We would sing this song as we were driving around with the top down in his MGB. That was an awesome summer and full of awesome memories. I still listen to this song probably weekly. My son’s grew up singing this song. My 14 yr old now has sang it since he was 2 yrs old! It still makes me smile and reminds me of the summer of 76! -Connie S.

It was 73-74. I was nuts about a younger girl. She was 18 and beautiful. I was 26 and stupid. We would drive to the desert, get high, watch the sunset and moonrise, and make love. I knew it was not going to last. She had her friends, I had mine. It didn’t last. Peaceful Easy Feeling was and is the soundtrack to that memory. Postscript: I’m 64 now and have been married 36 years (someone else) and that 18 year old is now fifty something and has been married for years. We are still best friends and I still get that Peaceful Easy Feeling when I’m near her. -Scamp

End of an era, and start of another

The Eagles have been my favorite band since the mid-1970s, kicking the Beatles out of first place in my heart. Towards the end of that decade, my marriage went belly up, and Eagles tunes helped to keep me sane during the transition, among others. When I was finally ready to move on, I was introduced to the lead singer in an Eagles cover band, and we hit it off right away. He loved singing Eagles tunes, and I loved listening to them. On the night that we were to become intimate, he sang Peaceful, Easy Feeling to me. It was the perfect song for the moment. It was what we both were feeling at the time, and it let me know that, no matter how things would turn out between us, I would be OK, because I’d already been through the fire, and had both feet firmly planted on the ground. Thank you, Jack, for giving voice to so many moments and feelings in my life. Reading all these posts, it’s pretty amazing how your words are able to conjure up such diverse meanings in the lives of so many. I’m very glad you chose the path that you did. -Phyllis G.

In 1977 I was 12 and my Dad played the Eagles all the time on his 8 Track in the car. Something about the music caught my imagination, it seemed to be poetry and made me want to drive across country and see this great nation. The music seems to say…no matter what has happened in your life …. put on an Eagles song and move on from it…. They are the greatest American Rock and Roll band ever….a sound all their own!
