It’s life

The song says it all.  Just hearing an Eagles song gives me a Peacefull Easy Feeling.  It’s the calming nature of the band that I love so much.  When I’m having a bad day, I turn to an Eagles tape and presto! I come out of the bad mood and move on.  I Thank You and the Eagles for getting threw many bad days!!  If you remember for a past post of mine.  You guys have been life savers!!  I will forever be grateful!!! -Kenneth W.

Takes me back to 1972

“Peaceful Easy Feeling” came out my junior year of high school and I was struggling to learn to sing harmony. When I heard this song I could pick out the harmonies and it all made sense. Now when I hear it I sing harmony and it takes me back to 1972! -M.D. Young

All time Classic song.

Whenever I hear Peaceful Easy Feeling, I am instantly Happy.  The song takes me back to childhood: no cares, no worries… It’s a classic still! I never get tired of hearing it. 50 years from now the song will still be GREAT. -Donna S.

That awesome summer of ‘76!

I think the first time I ever heard this song was summer of 76. I was 17 yrs old and was out with my first true love. We would sing this song as we were driving around with the top down in his MGB.  That was an awesome summer and full of awesome memories. I still listen to this song probably weekly. My son’s grew up singing this song. My 14 yr old now has sang it since he was 2 yrs old! It still makes me smile and reminds me of the summer of 76! -Connie S.

She was 18 and beautiful

It was 73-74. I was nuts about a younger girl. She was 18 and beautiful. I was 26 and stupid. We would drive to the desert, get high, watch the sunset and moonrise, and make love. I knew it was not going to last. She had her friends, I had mine. It didn’t last. Peaceful Easy Feeling was and is the soundtrack to that memory. Postscript: I’m 64 now and have been married 36 years (someone else) and that 18 year old is now fifty something and has been married for years. We are still best friends and I still get that Peaceful Easy Feeling when I’m near her. -Scamp

End of an era, and start of another

The Eagles have been my favorite band since the mid-1970s, kicking the Beatles out of first place in my heart. Towards the end of that decade, my marriage went belly up, and Eagles tunes helped to keep me sane during the transition, among others. When I was finally ready to move on, I was introduced to the lead singer in an Eagles cover band, and we hit it off right away. He loved singing Eagles tunes, and I loved listening to them. On the night that we were to become intimate, he sang Peaceful, Easy Feeling to me. It was the perfect song for the moment. It was what we both were feeling at the time, and it let me know that, no matter how things would turn out between us, I would be OK, because I’d already been through the fire, and had both feet firmly planted on the ground. Thank you, Jack, for giving voice to so many moments and feelings in my life. Reading all these posts, it’s pretty amazing how your words are able to conjure up such diverse meanings in the lives of so many. I’m very glad you chose the path that you did. -Phyllis G.

Peaceful Easy Feeling on Dad’s 8 Track

In 1977 I was 12 and my Dad played the Eagles all the time on his 8 Track in the car. Something about the music caught my imagination, it seemed to be poetry and made me want to drive across country and see this great nation. The music seems to say…no matter what has happened in your life …. put on an Eagles song and move on from it…. They are the greatest American Rock and Roll band ever….a sound all their own! Thanks Dad and Thanks Jack! -Michael M.

Whenever I hear that song

No story, really…  Whenever I hear that song, I forget about everything, sing to top of my lungs, and I am lost in that ‘Peaceful, Easy Feeling’.  Thanks to you Jack !  -Barbara

Memories

I remember sitting in my grandfather’s car when I was a young boy listening to an 8 track tape of the Eagles greatest hits.  My grandfather loved that song.  He said it was “a rocking country song”.  He died in 1990, but I saw the Eagles play that song live in 2002, and I thought of him.  I still can see him sitting in his car singing that song with a smile on his face. -Larry

My Peaceful Easy Feeling

I was born in 1966.  Grew up listening to and loving the Eagles… The 8-track was always in our car and my father would crank it up so loud, my sister, brother and I, especially loved it!!  The Eagles remain one of my favorite bands to this day!  Have seen them numerous times, and will continue to do so, as long as they (and you) keep making music!!!

A story still in progress

My story begins back in 1982 when I was deeply in love with a girl and she loved to hear me sing. “Peaceful Easy Feeling” was one of her favorites and mine, and she asked me to do it for her often. Several months went by and we married briefly, but were torn apart by outside influences. For 29 years I had not spoken to her or seen her-until four days ago. She contacted me and things were instantly rekindled. One of the first things she asked me to do was sing to her, and of course I sang a bit of PEF. To condense things-I will be seeing her later this week for the first time in many many years. While I do have hope for us, we both still have a long way to go together. The song means a great deal to me, and always will. She revealed to me that whenever she heard it, she would begin to weep a bit. For my part I had not sung PEF for all those years, and still the words came back instantly. Thank you Jack for a wonderful touchstone and masterpiece. -Al

great job

On teaching my self to play guitar, it was the first song i learned to play, and now twenty some years later, it is still one of my favorites to play all the time, everybody knows the song, that alone says alot, great job. -Jim V.

EAGLES THEIR GREATEST HITS

When traveling or remembering people in my life I have lost, the Eagles Peaceful Easy Feeling is comforting.

Jackson Browne performs “Peaceful Easy Feeling” at Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg, Canada April 4, 2011. Jackson co-wrote “Take It Easy” with Glenn Frey for the Eagles, but still gets requests for PEF by fans; probably confused over the word ‘Easy’ !
